Kids Country Food & Farming Day, June 2017 with Heather Fell & Laura Sugar

It is safe to say that Olympic Modern Pentathlon silver medallist, Heather Fell and Paralympic sprinter, Laura Sugar were in their happy place when their Mintridge journey took them to East of England Showground for the annual Kids Country Food & Farming Day on 30th June 2017.

The athletes each grew up in rural surroundings in contrasting areas of the country; Devon and Essex. With 7,000 school children eager to learn all that the countryside had to offer, Laura and Heather were happy to share their experiences and get involved in every aspect of the event… sometimes a little more competitively than first anticipated!

From the Dog & Duck Show, meeting exotic animals, British scurry driving, teaching students about the importance of healthy diets and nutrition to sitting on Heather’s beloved Massey Ferguson, it was a fantastic day and great to see so many of the farming community involved with encouraging the next generation to learn about the countryside!

Thank you very much to the Kids Country team for inviting our ambassadors to join the day, they thoroughly enjoyed it and we look forward to hearing about the impact that it had on students!
